I haven’t run out of uses for my Flip yet. There are so many situations where it is a better choice than a traditional camcorder (as long as quality is not the over-riding concern). I take mine everywhere.

If you don’t have one – get one. This is going to be as important a tool for creating internet content as anything since the introduction of the WYSISYG editor.Similar Posts:

I think the picture quality from the Flip is excellent. The sound is pretty good, too, all things considered. The Flip doesn’t have a mic jack, so you are limited to the onboard microphone. But the voices are easy to hear, even with all the background noise of a busy convention in a cavernous space.

Another thing to note – people tend to freeze up when you stick a camcorder in their face. The Flip is much less intimidating. The videographer and the subject can still talk, face to face, keeping the interview more relaxed and natural, even while getting a nice, tight close up.

Of course, you can carry the Flip with you no matter where you go or what you are doing. Whenever an opportunity to shoot arises, you can just pull the Flip out of your pocket and start rolling. It’s a great tool for these spontaneous, slice of life situations.

Last observation – these Marketing Minute clips were edited in Sony Vegas Movie Studio. The Flip’s AVI videos will work with almost any video editing software, once you install the Flip’s codec.

It’s been a dismal spring in the Northwest. Cold, rainy – we even has snow for 2 days in mid-April. Most years, one of the big spring attractions in this part of the country is the Tulip Festival in the Skagit Valley. Tulip (and other) bulbs are actually grown here in the Pacific Northwest, rather than in Holland. After the blooms die back, the Dutch growers harvest and sell the bulbs. So spring in the tulip fields can be spectacular. Last weekend, on a whim, we took off for a few hours to see if any of the fields were still in bloom.

Dragging a full size camcorder along in iffy weather conditions can present a problem. Do you carry it around all day and risk getting it wet or leave it in the car and risk getting it stolen? The Flip fits in a jacket pocket and weighs almost nothing – problem solved!

And it’s so easy to use, everyone and their dog is doing it….

Flip Camcorder Ultra

I recently read that the Flip is the #1 selling camcorder in the US – and I’m not surprised. Although you can buy a “real” camcorder for about the same amount of money, it’s hard to beat the Flip’s simplicity and ease of use.

RCA’s Small Wonder camcorder is very similar – and it is on sale at Buy.com for $89.00

At less than 4.5″ tall and 2.5″ wide, this tiny camera weighs just 0.22 lbs. Drop it in a pocket and take it with you everywhere you go!

This camcorder certainly won’t give you the sorts of pictures the Canon HV20 will – but if you want to take simple videos to upload to You Tube, the Small Wonder is a great starter camera.

It was originally priced in the neighborhood of $1,000.00 The street price is now closer to $650.00 – and it produces images comparable to camcorders costing 2 or 3 times more.
