No Escape from Relentless Zombie Ideas

Zombie ideas.

They are brain dead, but they never go away. They never die. They keep coming back.

With every new day, zombie marketing schemes devour the brains of dreamers who read that you can make money, lots and lots of money, on the internet.

SEND MORE COPS

Have you ever seen Return of the Living Dead?

In one scene, zombies surround a patrol car and kill the police. A frantic dispatcher, overhearing the carnage, radios for information. One of the zombies, listening to the radio squawk, looks puzzled for a moment. The audience holds its breath – will the zombies be destroyed by reinforcements?

The zombie almost smiles as he drops the corpse, picks up the microphone, and says, “Send.. More.. Cops.”

Every time I see a sales page with yellow highlighter and PayPal deposit screen caps, I can almost see the marketers dancing around their inboxes, saying, “Send more suckers!”

WISE INVESTMENTS vs GET RICH QUICK SCHEMES

Can you make money on the internet? Yes, emphatically, yes you can.

Can you make money while you sleep? Surprisingly, yes, even while you sleep, you can make money.

Will you make pots of easy money by paying lots of your money to learn someone else’s sales secrets? How do you separate legitimate training from snake oil?

Aye, as the pirate masseuse said, there’s the rub.

Of course the old rule of thumb still holds – if it sounds too good to be true, it is. I’d add: if you have to click the Buy button to learn the price – don’t. If, week after week, the same dozen marketers fill your inbox with breathless pitches for their incestuous product launches, unsubscribe from their lists.

You already know the truth, even if it is not the answer you want to hear. Learning a new skill takes time, effort, practice, and persistence. As you increase your skills, you’ll increase your earnings.

Don’t let the marketing zombies overwhelm you. Invest in yourself – not in dumb zombie schemes.
