Must Have Accessories
Buying the camcorder is only half the fun (or half the battle, depending on where you shop). Once you’ve got the camcorder and have made a few movies, you’ll realize that your life could be simplified by the addition of a few worth-their-weight-in-gold accessories.
If you have a Sony camcorder with an Automatic Interface shoe but no microphone jack – you can still add an external mic using the VMC K100 adapter. It plugs into the AIS and you plug the mini-plug from a mic into it. Your sound will be reduced from stereo to mono – but that might be a worthwhile trade off if it is the only way you can add a decent external microphone.
Although Sony is phasing out this adapter, they are still available from B&H Photos for under $20.00. Grab one now if you have a handycam with AIS and no external mic jack.
